We state it precisely because a number a buyer can put in a supplier scorecard is worth more than an adjective — this is a share of operational energy, and it does not include freight or upstream material production.
How are working conditions verified?
Working conditions are verified through SA8000 certification and SEDEX/SMETA ethical trade audits, and buyers or their appointed auditors are welcome at the factory.
SMETA provides the audit snapshot across labour, health and safety, environment and business ethics; SA8000 adds ongoing surveillance. We hold both.

How does Foot On Shoes reduce material waste?
Leather cutting yield is managed at source, offcuts are diverted to smaller leather goods rather than general waste, and recycled-content materials carry RCS chain-of-custody documentation.
RCS certification is what allows a brand to make a verified recycled-content claim on the finished product, rather than an unsupported one.
